FAQ
Everything you might want to know about collecting with The Inheritance Collective. If your question isn't answered here, reach out anytime.
What kind of jewelry does The Inheritance Collective sell?
We curate vintage, estate, and fine jewelry across two lines. The Legacy Line is fine jewelry chosen for permanence — solid gold, natural stones, pieces meant to be kept and passed on as heirlooms. The Living Line is expressive, everyday vintage, including beautifully made costume pieces from design houses like Trifari, Weiss, Napier, YSL, Chanel, and Dior. Every piece is chosen for its story, presence, and meaning.
Are the pieces one of a kind?
Yes. Most pieces are individually sourced and one of a kind, so when a piece sells, it is usually gone. Items are found in person, through international auction houses, and through a trusted network of fellow jewelry lovers, then curated for their character and how they feel to wear.
What is the difference between the Legacy Line and the Living Line?
The Legacy Line is fine jewelry selected for its permanence — solid gold and natural stones, pieces with emotional and material weight that you build a collection around and eventually pass down. The Living Line is vintage and expressive, made for everyday wear — gold-filled, gold-plated, vermeil, sterling, and finely made costume jewelry. Both are collected with the same eye; the difference is simply how they live with you.
How do you authenticate your pieces?
Every piece in The Inheritance Collective is personally selected, inspected, and vetted before it is offered for sale. We review visible hallmarks, maker's marks, signatures, construction, materials, stone condition, age indicators, and overall quality. When appropriate, metals may be acid-tested, magnet-tested, or further evaluated by a trusted jeweler. Because many vintage and estate pieces have lived long and interesting lives, not every piece comes with original paperwork, so any available markings, testing, provenance, or appraisal information is noted in the listing. If a piece is attributed to a designer, era, metal, or material, that attribution is based on visible evidence, testing, documentation, or professional review when available. We do our best to identify each piece honestly and transparently.
Do you ship internationally?
The Inheritance Collective currently ships within the United States. Orders are carefully packed and shipped with tracking, and shipping rates are calculated at checkout unless otherwise noted. For higher-value pieces, signature confirmation and insurance may be required or included. International shipping is not currently offered as a standard option, but if you are outside the United States and interested in a piece, you are welcome to contact us before purchasing.
What is your return policy?
We want you to feel confident and delighted with your purchase. Because our pieces are vintage, estate, or one-of-a-kind, all items are sold in the condition described and photographed. Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery for eligible items. To qualify, the piece must be unworn, undamaged, unaltered, and returned in its original packaging, shipped back with tracking and insurance at the buyer's expense. Original shipping charges are non-refundable, and refunds are issued after the returned item has been received and inspected. Items marked final sale, resized or altered pieces, custom work, special orders, and layaway purchases are not eligible for return unless there was a material error in the listing.
What does “Wear it to Remember” mean?
Every piece comes with a “Wear it to Remember” line — a short reflection on the meaning it carries. It is an invitation to wear your jewelry as a personal talisman: a reminder of your softness, your power, and your story. You are not just wearing jewelry — you are wearing your legacy.
