Italian Sterling Silver Elongated Link Chain Necklace
Italian Sterling Silver Elongated Link Chain Necklace
Long rectangular links, each one turned at a right angle to the last, so the chain carries a squared architectural rhythm instead of the soft roll of a cable. It reads more like something drawn than something coiled.
Stamped 925 and ITALY at both ends of the clasp. Italy has been the world's chain country for a long time. Arezzo, Vicenza, Milan, whole towns organized around the machinery and the hand finishing of links, generations deep in it. A chain stamped this way was made somewhere that takes chain seriously.
The silver has darkened where the links meet, which is what sterling does and what gives an open link chain its depth. Leave it or polish it back. Both are correct.
Substantial enough to hold a pendant without complaining, and good enough to wear with nothing on it at all.
